George C. Wang, MD, PhD, FACP

Founder and Physician

 

Dr. George Wang is passionate about the whole-person approach to health and the use of integrative medicine and functional medicine therapeutic principles to reverse many chronic diseases. He emphasizes a holistic approach as the foundation to living a positive, long, and healthy life. In his practice, he integrates scientific evidence with clinical experience — to offer patients the highest level of individualized care, give them confidence in their own health, and empower them to be healthier.

Dr. Wang has been practicing medicine in both the academic and private practice settings for more than 17 years. He provides medical care to adults 18 years and older. Prior to founding Wisdom Health and Wellbeing, he was formerly on the full-time medical faculty at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and Columbia University Medical Center.

Dr. Wang is board-certified in Integrative Medicine, certified in Functional Medicine by the Institute for Functional Medicine, and board-certified in both Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is also licensed to practice acupuncture. In his practice, Dr. Wang brings integration of scientific evidence and effective therapeutic modalities to the care of his patients. He is passionate about whole-person healing and the power of food as medicine in reversing chronic diseases.

​​Dr. Wang is also a physician-scientist who offers sharp and critical evaluations of the latest research evidence, putting it into the proper perspective. While on the full-time medical faculty at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, he served as both an attending physician and clinical researcher. He is a former recipient of multiple National Institutes of Health (NIH) and foundation clinical research grants. In his research focused on the immune system in aging, he was mentored by Dr. Peter C. Doherty, Nobel laureate, who discovered the nature of T-cell mediated immunity.
