
George C. Wang, MD, PhD, FACP

Founder and Physician
Dr. George Wang is passionate about the whole-person approach to health and the use of functional medicine and integrative medicine therapeutic principles in the prevention, treatment, and reversal of chronic diseases. He emphasizes a holistic approach as the foundation to living a positive and healthy life. In his practice, he integrates scientific evidence with clinical experience — to offer patients the highest level of individualized care, giving them confidence in their own health and empowering them to be healthier.

Dr. Wang has been practicing medicine in the academic and private practice settings for over 20 years, providing medical care to adults 18 years and older. Prior to founding Wisdom Health and Wellbeing, he was formerly on the full-time medical faculty at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and Columbia University Medical Center.

In addition to being board-certified in functional medicine by the International Board of Functional Medicine Certification, Dr. Wang is board-certified in lifestyle medicine by the American Board of Lifestyle Medicine and board-certified in both internal medicine and geriatric medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He also holds a certificate and licenses to practice acupuncture as a physician acupuncturist in New Jersey and New York. ​

​​Dr. Wang has been a speaker, planning committee member, and symposium chair in numerous medical conferences given for physician/clinician audiences at the national and international level, including the International Congress on Integrative Medicine & Health. As a physician-educator, Dr. Wang has given lectures on integrative/functional medicine and acupuncture to physicians and clinicians at various academic medical centers nationally and internationally.

Dr. Wang is also a physician-scientist who incorporates critical evaluations of clinical research evidence into patient care. While on the medical faculty at Johns Hopkins, he served as both an attending physician and clinical researcher. He is a former recipient of multiple National Institutes of Health (NIH) and foundation research grants. In his research on autoimmune disease, he was mentored by Dr. Noel R. Rose, who has been called the "father of autoimmunity," and with whom he published peer-reviewed research on thyroid autoimmunity.
